What is Acid Reflux?
Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid flows back into the oesophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, chest pain, and regurgitation. If untreated, it may lead to conditions such as esophagitis, Barrett's oesophagus, or even oesophageal adenocarcinoma—a form of cancer that can develop from Barrett's oesophagus, a precancerous condition caused by chronic acid exposure.
