About Dr. Rishi Singhal

Dr Rishi Singhal is an internationally experienced bariatric, metabolic and upper gastrointestinal surgeon, practising in both the United Kingdom and India.

He graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 1999 and subsequently completed his surgical training in the United Kingdom. Dr Singhal was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and completed an MD research degree at the University of Birmingham. In 2022, he was appointed Visiting Professor of Bariatric Surgery at Birmingham City University.

Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery

Bariatric and metabolic surgery forms the core of Dr Singhal's clinical practice.

Complex & Revisional Bariatric Surgery

Revisional bariatric surgery is one of Dr Singhal's principal specialist interests.

These operations are significantly more complex than primary bariatric surgery and may be required because of inadequate weight loss, weight regain, severe reflux, anatomical problems or complications following a previous procedure.

Endoscopic Bariatric Treatments

Dr Singhal has been involved in the development of endoscopic treatments for obesity alongside conventional bariatric surgery.

He introduced Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) into his clinical practice in 2020 and offers endoscopic weight-loss procedures to appropriately selected patients.

Academic surgery and clinical research have remained an important part of Dr Singhal's career.
